Dead Orbit Summer
Hailing from the modular hab-blocks of Novacron City’s middle-class "Helium Heights" district, Dead Orbit Summer is an emo pop-punk outfit channeling late-20th-century Earth suburban angst through a neo-romantic futuristic lens. Formed out of boredom in the food court of their local orbital hyper-mall, the band cycled through early name iterations like Message To Mercury and Lunar Tantrum before finding their true voice (and their name) while stranded in a stagnant orbit during a bummer summer tour. Incidentally, this event inspired Dead Orbit Summer’s debut flipside single on FreqAtomic Records: Black Hole Boyfriend / Lagrange Point, complete with an exclusive 5-page comic insert charting their escape from the singularity. Dead Orbit Summer is led by the impulsive chanteuse DJen, a brassy lass of a lady whose volatile romantic history with manipulative lead guitarist Arlan often fuels the band's raw emotion and chemistry. While DJen and Arlan provide the interpersonal drama, the band is anchored by the steady, solid basslines of mecha-manga enthusiast Clementine and the thunderous, unbridled enthusiasm of their Neo-Scandinavian drummer, Bjorn. Equal parts heartbreak, hyper-drive acceleration, and DIY defiance, this stellar four-piece combo is currently touring through the world of CRYPTONAUTS.
